Once my Hangout On Air (HOA) is scheduled (I explain how I do that here) and have embedded it in my Google Site (I explain how to do that here), I am ready to go live! Having everything ready to go before the morning is the key to success. My mornings are very busy. I usually have a meeting at 8 a.m., receive students at 8:45 a.m., start the morning show by 9 a.m. and then off to my next meeting! Here's the process for how we "go live" with HOA:

How our audience views the Morning Show
At Evendale we use a YouTube link that is posted on a Google Site to view the show. Each morning when teachers arrive, they turn on their laptops and projectors. The show is projected onto the SMARTBoard in each classroom. Teachers go to the same Google Site each day and they have been encouraged to put a shortcut on their desktop to make it even easier.

How we set up a Google Hangout On Air
In this post, I will give you step by step directions with screenshots and provide a video that demonstrates the process of setting up a Google Hangout On Air (HOA). Each "broadcast" requires a separate HOA to be set up. Once you get the hang of it, it's quite simple. So let's begin!

Why we use Google Hangouts On Air
As I mentioned in the welcome post, finding an alternative to the previous Morning Show broadcasted through a cable channel was no longer an option at the start of the 2014-15 school year. We had five classrooms that were not able to watch on the previously used method of broadcasting though a cable channel. In addition, we had fifteen new teachers, many of which were in their first year. I needed something that was simple to access and play.
